Supporting our customers during Cyclone Alfred

Supporting our customers during Cyclone Alfred

Our thoughts are with you and everyone who may be displaced or impacted by Cyclone Alfred. We know this is a challenging time, and your safety and wellbeing are the priority. Please take care and seek support as needed.

As we manage the effects of the cyclone, we remain focused on ensuring you can access the services and support you need. We have strong contingency plans in place to minimise disruptions, and while there may be some delays, we are committed to assisting you as best we can.

QTAC will remain open and work remotely to support you as per our standard business hours, but responses and call wait times may be longer than normal due to any impacts from Cyclone Alfred. We appreciate your patience.

Chief Experience Officer Chris Jack reaffirmed QTAC’s commitment to both staff and customers, stating:

“The wellbeing of our staff is a priority, and we are taking proactive measures to ensure their safety while maintaining essential services. Our team is working remotely, and our contingency plans allow us to respond flexibly while continuing to support both our customers and staff. Our phone lines will remain open where possible. You can contact QTAC on 1300 467 822, Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 8:45am–4:30pm and Wed 9am–4:30pm.”

If you are returning to your application now or in the coming days, or if you haven’t started one yet this year, you may be eligible for the Educational Access Scheme (EAS) if you have been affected by the cyclone. This scheme provides adjustments to support those facing difficult circumstances. You can find more information at qtac.edu.au/assistance-schemes

Here are two links that can help you stay informed and feel more prepared: getready.qld.gov.au and bom.gov.au. In case of an emergency remember to dial 000.

We’ll continue to share updates on our Instagram and Facebook, and on qtac.edu.au/contact. Please stay safe, and reach out when you’re ready—we’re here to help.
