Course outline

In the Bachelor of Creative Industries/Bachelor of Information Technology double degree at QUT, you’ll prepare for a career where creativity, innovation and technology come together. This unique combination equips you with the creative mindset and technical skills to thrive in the Creative Economy and the evolving world of IT.

You’ll explore how to use your creative talents to solve real-world problems across disciplines and industries. Through Creative Enterprise studios, you’ll engage in problem-based learning, collaborate with peers and industry, and develop skills in design thinking, innovation and entrepreneurship. You’ll also build on your digital and technical strengths, choosing a major aligned with your goals.

At the same time, you’ll gain a strong IT foundation, learning to analyse, design, build and maintain secure, sustainable systems using industry tools. You’ll understand both core principles and emerging technologies, including AI, and apply them ethically. You’ll model complex systems, think strategically and align IT solutions with business needs.

Through internships, industry-linked projects and Work Integrated Learning (WIL), you’ll gain hands-on experience. You’ll communicate complex ideas, work in diverse teams and explore the social, cultural and ethical impacts of technology and creativity, including engagement with First Nations communities.
