The Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Paramedicine double degree develops proactive and adaptable graduates who will be competent and ethical clinicians, creative and critical thinkers, independent lifelong learners, and professional nurses and paramedics. The course uses learner-centred approaches including situation-based learning to enhance students’ experiences during the course as well as their readiness for the workplace to deliver compassionate primary, urgent and or emergency health care. As the course incorporates extensive clinical placements and innovative simulation activities, graduates will be well prepared to meet the health needs of the community in varied nursing and paramedicine settings.

This course is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) and by the Paramedicine Board of Australia (with conditions).

Students undertake five nursing clinical placements totalling at least 800 hours of professional experience and five paramedicine clinical placements in a variety of healthcare environments. In addition, innovative simulation activities provide a rounded and robust learning experience to prepare for real-world clinical and professional challenges. Students must take a medical and physical capacity test prior to commencing clinical placement with an Australian ambulance service. This is an ambulance service mandatory requirement. Before students can begin professional experience for this course, students should review the mandatory State or Territory legal and industry policy requirements. Please note: All applicants for Nursing courses must meet English Language Proficiency requirements as stipulated by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA), prior to enrolling into a course.
To enrol in this program, students must have attended and satisfactorily completed at least 6 years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed solely in English. At least two years of this education must have been between grades 7 and 12. This education must have been completed in one of the following countries; Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom, United States of America. Registered nurse, paramedic, medical dispatcher, medical/surgical nurse, accident and emergency nurse. On graduation, and subsequent to an internship year with an ambulance service, students can become qualified/registered paramedics. They are also eligible for postgraduate training to become intensive/critical care paramedics.
