This course will provide students with the specialised skills and knowledge to flourish within the design, manufacturing, wholesale or retail areas of the fashion industry. This diploma provides students with the advanced skills to work independently or collaboratively within a constantly evolving sector. Students will also develop an advanced understanding of design processes and product development, as well as technical production skills to support management and fashion businesses. TAFE Queensland’s fashion training centres are the ideal place to launch your fashion career. Equipped with numerous sewing machines, overlockers, computer labs and cutting rooms; everything needed is at your fingertips to bring your creations to life and ready to hit the runway. TAFE Queensland graduates have gone on to create or work for a host of successful labels including Billabong, Marc Jacobs, Easton Pearson and Black Milk Clothing. Successful completion of this course will provide graduates with the necessary skills and attributes to seek employment as a fashion designer and stylist, dressmaker, machinist, tailor, fashion accessories designer and fashion retailer. Completion also provides great articulation opportunities into higher education courses.
