This course covers a comprehensive theoretical and semi-technical base for working in the mechanical, mechatronic, manufacturing and maintenance fields at a para-professional level. Students will advance their skills in mathematics, materials science, quality assurance, engineering drawing and computing, as well as management and maintenance strategies. This course emphasises the transfer of theoretical concepts to practical real-world applications.

Students will be invited to complete a Skills Check after receiving an offer, before enrolling into studies. This helps students ensure the course is right for them and allows TAFE Queensland to understand students’ current abilities in English, Maths, as well as using digital technology.
The recommended benchmark levels for this course are 4 in English, 4 in Maths and 4 in Digital Technology.
If you are applying for a VET Student Loan the required levels to meet academic eligibility, as outlined by Commonwealth guidelines, is Level 4 English and Maths.
