Course outline

The Diploma of Technical Screen Production offers a direct, practice-based pathway into film, television and digital media careers. Developed in close collaboration with industry, the diploma will equip you with the technical and professional skills required for entry-level crew roles across the screen production industry.

You’ll train in simulated production environments using professional-standard equipment, rotating through roles such as as production runner, camera assistant, boom operator, lighting assistant and art department assistant. Courses focus on core industry skills like on-set safety, crew protocols, technical operations and production management.

Delivered by Griffith Film School and supported by leading studios and industry mentors, this diploma responds to national skills shortages and growing demand for trained crew in Australia and internationally. The final capstone course places you in crew rotations on set, simulating the workflow of professional screen productions.

This diploma is ideal if you’re seeking immediate employment in the screen sector, whether that’s freelance, studio-based, or location-based productions across Australia’s rapidly expanding screen industry.
