Course outline

This online or on-campus course prepares you for the full range of Secondary years teaching (Years 7-12) in two teaching areas (according to the content of prior studies). It has a strong focus on building academic capacity, personal development and a love of learning within students, and provides a full range of educational, curriculum and pedagogical studies infused with value-rich Christian perspectives. Extensive professional experience placements are available across all education sectors and localities within Australia. Our aim is to develop you into an inspirational and transformative educator.

The fees listed are for 2024. Fees for 2025 are to be advised. Actual study cost will be determined by unit field of education.

Other requirements

Students complete 85 days of supervised practicum during the course. Students may have to travel and incur costs associated with travel and accommodation. Students are generally placed in Brisbane and south-east Queensland, although placements are available further afield. Students experience at least one placement outside Brisbane and are encouraged to consider rural placements. A Blue Card is required, refer to institution. Students must undertake and meet the benchmark for the Personal Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Educators (LANTITE) to progress to the second year (full-time equivalent) of the course.

Additional entry requirements

For information regarding the Teaching Personal Statement, refer to QTAC website. Applicants must have completed a three-year bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a minimum GPA 4.0, not in education or in a course leading to teacher registration. Previous degree must include at least a major study in one teaching area and, preferably, a second teaching area comprising at least a minor study.
