What is a selection rank?
A selection rank determines a student’s competitiveness relative to other applicants for the same course. The selection rank can be based on the ATAR, or it might be altered by adjustment factors or other selection criteria relevant for the course. A selection rank can also be determined from other eligible qualifications.
What is a raw score?
Raw scores are the numeric results of individual assessment components in a subject.
What are prerequisites?
Prerequisites are satisfactory completed QCE subjects (or equivalent) for Unit 3 and Unit 4, in which a student must achieve a minimum grade of C (or equivalent) to be eligible for selection into a course.
What is the difference between Completion and Successful Completion of subjects?
In the QCE, subject Completion means achieving a grade of E or better. Satisfactory or Successful Completion of a subject means achieving a grade of C or better.
What is assumed knowledge?
Background knowledge is a QCE/QCAA Unit 1 or Unit 2 subject, or an identified skill, that will enhance a student’s understanding of the content of a given undergraduate course. This is not a requirement.
What are adjustment factors?
Adjustment factors are additional points that may be combined with your ATAR or rank from other qualifications to derive a QTAC selection rank. Adjustments do not permanently change your ATAR but change your selection rank for the course/s you have preferenced and may increase your chances of getting an offer.
Will I receive an adjustment based on my location?
Location adjustments are made based on your proximity to the institution offering the course or courses you’re applying for. For example, some institutions give you additional points for being a local resident, or for living in a regional or remote area. Location adjustments are made to your QTAC application automatically, after you apply.
I graduated Year 12 over a year ago, do I still receive my subject adjustments?
No, senior subject adjustments are considered for current Year 12 students only.
I have just completed Year 12, will I receive any subject adjustments?
You may get a rank/ATAR adjustment for successfully completing specific Year 12 subjects. The adjustments are automatically added to your ATAR or selection rank on your QTAC Application and can make you more competitive. For detailed subjects and adjustments information, please contact an institution directly.
I have applied for the Elite Athlete Scheme, what happens now?
QTAC will assess your application and supporting documentation and apply the relevant adjustments, if applicable. If you are successful in receiving an offer, the institution will then contact you with further information.
