The Bachelor of Medical Science (Pathway to Medicine) is an innovative university and hospital partnership between CQUniversity, The University of Queensland and the Central Queensland and Wide Bay Hospital and Health Services. This pathway is open to school leaver applicants and will provide a contextualised curriculum to prepare students for a future medical career. Students will benefit from authentic, and real-world learning experiences that provide relevant skills and knowledge in science, biomedical science and health to ensure students are well prepared for further medical study. Students will study the foundations of medical science in anatomy, physiology and biochemistry and subsequently apply this knowledge to medically focused units of cell biology, molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and medical imaging. You will commence studies with CQU, later transitioning via direct entry into UQ’s regionally based Doctor of Medicine Program. Community placements, clinical immersion experiences and work-integrated learning opportunities with health service providers in Central Queensland and Wide Bay are offered throughout the course to prepare students for their career in medicine. BONDED MEDICAL PROGRAM
The Bonded Medical Program (BMP) scheme specifies that students must commit to working in an area of workplace shortage for a specified period after they have completed their professional training. This commitment is referred to as a Return of Service Obligation (RoSO). Further information is available from the Department of Health.
