This degree is ideal for students who like to work behind the scenes creating and manufacturing dentures, crowns, bridges and orthodontic appliances. It suits students who enjoy working with their hands, with an attention to detail, who prefer not to work directly with a patient. Combine creativity and technology to create custom-made dental devices. Dental Technologists (or Dental Technicians as they are often referred to) are highly skilled members of the dental team. This is an ideal degree if you have an eye for detail, in combination with an artistic or scientific background. Graduates work behind the scenes to create and manufacture dentures, crowns, bridges and orthodontic appliances in both conventional and digital contexts. This is the only internationally benchmarked dental technology degree in Australia. In the first year, you’ll learn foundational skills in health science, be introduced to prosthetics and develop skills in the dental laboratory. Second year applies knowledge of dental materials to dental laboratory practice. Laboratory experience is continued through all years with an emphasis on work-integrated learning in your third year. You will learn and work alongside dentistry students in our state-of-the-art dental clinics and pre-clinical laboratories. For more course information, visit Bachelor of Dental Technology at GU.
