This double degree provides students with a valuable portfolio of knowledge and skills relevant to a wide range of careers in economics and law. Students graduate with knowledge and skills in the most recent theory and practice of law and an in-depth practical understanding of how the economy works, as well as transferable critical thinking, problem-solving and analysis skills to apply to many industries.
The law component includes fundamental units such as legal systems and methods, criminal law, contracts, torts, property law, equity and constitutional law. Other units include jurisprudence, international law, taxation, and banking and finance.
Within the economics component, students complete core units in microeconomics, macroeconomics and business statistics, with a strong emphasis on applied and real-world issues. Students can tailor their studies by selecting a major from Agribusiness, Agricultural and resource economics, Economic development, Economic evaluation, or Environmental analysis and policy.
Students explore the ethical, social and environmental dimensions of economic decision-making, developing the ability to critically analyse, interpret and communicate economic and social data.
