Other requirements

Students must meet the Inherent Requirements to complete this course. Professional experience placement is an essential component of the Bachelor of Nursing. Students must complete mandatory NSW Health Verification Requirements and UNE requirements by week 8 of the first trimester of study. These requirements include a record of vaccinations and/or serological confirmation of protection, current National Criminal Record Clearance (Australian or Overseas for international students), and NSW Working with Children Check. Students must pass a Clinical Competency Assessment or any other relevant hurdle assessment before attending placement. Students must also obtain a nursing uniform and personal protective equipment. Full-time students are required to complete a minimum of 160 hours of Professional Education Practice across health care facilities within NSW in the first year of study.

Candidates must complete 800 hours of professional experience placement (Rules (a), (c)); 640 hours (Rule (b) EN); which is undertaken in each trimester in health facilities in NSW.

Applicants from a non-English speaking background including Australian citizens are advised that this course has a higher English language requirement than many UNE courses.
