Course outline

The Bachelor of Architectural Technology prepares you to reshape the future of architecture with cutting-edge digital tools. The first course of its kind in Australia, you’ll get deep into computer-aided design and building information modelling, giving you the technical edge needed to thrive in the built environment industry.

Learn the fundamentals of designing high-performance buildings, from concept development to digital modelling and construction documentation. Master the core principles of materials, structure and energy efficiency to take on sustainable and socially conscious design, solving real-world problems and challenging the way we think about space. Use the latest CAD software in a BIM approach to create buildings that blend physical and digital layers. Mentored by industry leaders, you’ll tackle live client briefs and gain practical experience in professional design environments, culminating in a final-year Architectural Technology Capstone project.

Learning Outcomes and Work-Integrated Learning:

1.Leverage a range of technologies used in creating innovative built environments.
2.Explore new ways that materials and construction assemblies can provide sustainable solutions.
3.Apply an inside-out approach to building design by creating fully immersive digital environments.
4.Learn how 3D modelling and game engines can influence a range of architectural design proposals.
5.Evaluate human needs and the impact of new architectural artefacts for optimal spatial planning.
6.Develop your knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing and structural engineering services to develop integrated building solutions.
7.Undertake 120 hours of experience by completing an internship or working on a live brief.
