The Master of Clinical Psychology offers students the opportunity for advanced training in clinical theory, skills and applied research. These are three skills fundamental to the professional practice of clinical psychology and psychotherapy. The program emphasises an integrative approach drawing upon evidence-based psychotherapies including relational psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, and systemic narrative therapies across the lifespan. A psychology clinic provides practicum opportunities to work with adults, children and families in a real-world learning context. There are opportunities for supervised practicums in a variety of counselling and clinical settings including the clinic and external community agencies and health settings.
As a practice-oriented program, the Master of Clinical Psychology prepares competent and innovative graduates who have the career edge in clinical psychology and psychotherapy. You will have the essential knowledge, practical skills, values, and ethical and cultural sensitivity for counselling and clinical psychology practice. As skilled professionals, you will act for the benefit of others and be regarded as a holder of the trust of those who rely on your knowledge, skills, and expert judgement. Accordingly, you will be prepared effectively for the workplace with enhanced employability, having examined the most recent theory and practice of clinical psychology and psychotherapy, and having acquired relevant graduate capabilities, such as effective communication, problem-solving, analytical skills, research skills, and digital competencies appropriate to clinical psychology professional practice. To this end, you will act as an advocate and leader who work autonomously and in partnership with your peers, individuals, communities, and other health professionals.

Your degree must be accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as a 4-year training (or equivalent) program. For example, QUT's Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Honours Psychology) degree.
If you have an overseas qualifications you must provide certification with your application from the Australian Psychological Society (APS) stating your degree is equivalent to an APAC-approved, 4-year training in psychology. Please ensure you lodge your certification request with APS as early as possible, as APS processing times can exceed three months.

We will consider equivalent overseas qualifications for admissions purposes. If you have tertiary qualifications from countries where English is not the standard language of instruction, you must provide evidence of English language proficiency.

You must provide your academic record for all studies attempted up until semester 1 this year by 30 September. If your application is successful you will receive a conditional offer that will stipulate when your final results and course completion must be provided to confirm your place.
If you have summer/semester 3 (or equivalent) studies you will need to apply for entry next August, for the intake year after you complete your studies.
If you completed your degree with the required GPA more than 10 years ago, you must provide evidence of current registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia.
