Course outline

SAE Film graduates have been involved with outstanding production companies, studios and networks, including Nine Network, Steam Motion and Sound, Fuel VFX, Foxtel, ABC and independent production companies.

Students who undertake film courses at SAE learn the creative and technical aspects of filmmaking in an innovative, hands-on environment. Students build their creative confidence and develop artistic independence. SAE teaches both the traditional skills of filmmaking and puts graduates at the forefront of the technologies shaping the future of the craft.

Areas of study: story concept development, screenwriting and drafting, creative production approaches, aesthetics and techniques, post-production methods and techniques, production and post-production workflows, film, media and cultural studies, history and theory, project management, business and leadership skills, employability skills in screen industry contexts, screen industry best practices.

Note

Duration is one and a quarter years full-time. Part-time study available for eligible applicants (excluding international student visa holders).
SAE has a range of approaches to learning and teaching that can be activated to provide flexibility in the face of changing circumstances as required, to support student progression regardless of external factors.
