Course outline

The construction industry is the third-largest industry sector in Australia and is continuing to expand. This degree will equip you with in-depth knowledge and practical skills required to manage and direct complex construction projects. Our strong links with industry ensure you gain a practical understanding of the latest industry trends and access to powerful IT applications used in construction. You’ll learn about construction and building practices, the fundamentals of sustainable construction, project development and management, construction economics, and site and safety operations in a global context. You’ll undertake an in-depth study of core construction areas including construction measurements and estimating, tendering, planning and procurement. In your final year, you’ll develop your professional skills through an industry placement, giving you the opportunity to build industry connections and enhance your employment opportunities. Membership

Graduates meet the Queensland Building and Construction Commission’s technical qualification requirements to hold a Builder Open class of licence and a Builder Project Management Services licence subject to demonstrating the required level of industry experience. The Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) is accredited by the Australian Institute of Building (AIB). The requirements of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) in the UK and the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS) have been considered in the development of this degree.
