The Bachelor of Medical Science (Pathway to Medicine) is an innovative university and hospital partnership between CQUniversity, The University of Queensland and the Central Queensland and Wide Bay Hospital and Health Services. This pathway is open to school leaver applicants and will provide a contextualised curriculum to prepare students for a future medical career. Students will benefit from authentic, and real-world learning experiences that provide relevant skills and knowledge in science, biomedical science and health to ensure students are well prepared for further medical study. Students will study the foundations of medical science in anatomy, physiology and biochemistry and subsequently apply this knowledge to medically focused units of cell biology, molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, pathophysiology, pharmacology and medical imaging. You will commence studies with CQU, later transitioning via direct entry into UQ’s regionally based Doctor of Medicine Program. Community placements, clinical immersion experiences and work-integrated learning opportunities with health service providers in Central Queensland and Wide Bay are offered throughout the course to prepare students for their career in medicine. BONDED MEDICAL PROGRAM
The Bonded Medical Program (BMP) scheme specifies that students must commit to working in an area of workplace shortage for a specified period after they have completed their professional training. This commitment is referred to as a Return of Service Obligation (RoSO). Further information is available from the Department of Health.
CQUniversity
Available in Rockhampton and Bundaberg, this innovative course is designed for school leavers and provides a limited number of places as a provisional entry pathway into The University of Queensland’s regionally-based Doctor of Medicine program.
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants may choose to apply for this course via the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Admission pathway.
This course has strict enrolment requirements. Successful applicants must accept the offer and enrol in units with CQU by the date stated on the offer letter. If you fail to do so, or if you withdraw from your units within this course, your offer will be revoked. This requirement applies irrespective of whether you accepted conditionally or unconditionally in your QTAC application.

This course is designed for current school leavers. To be eligible to apply for entry to this course, applicants must be graduating high school in the year of application.
Applicants will need to sit the UCAT ANZ before applying for this course. Applicants must have a competitive University Clinical Aptitude Test for Australia and New Zealand (UCAT ANZ) aggregate score. The minimum UCAT ANZ score the University requires will vary each year, determined by the performance of all applicants competing for a place in the Pathway to Medicine course.
Applicants must have a minimum adjusted ATAR of 95.00 (or equivalent), or higher.
Shortlisted applicants must attend a multiple mini interview (MMI).
Entry is competitive with limited places available. Meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee admission.

Provided students meet all entry requirements, they will seamlessly transition into UQ’s regionally delivered Doctor of Medicine Program. This course provides a provisional pathway for graduate entry into the UQ MD and facilitates the opportunity for students to study medicine in regional Queensland.
