Course outline

Graduates can apply complex knowledge to the design, delivery and evaluation of exercise programs, interventions and assessments that meet the specific needs of their client in a non-clinical setting. Students complete 300 hours of professional placement with sporting associations, fitness centres, school coaching programs, strength and conditioning programs, and academies of sport. Students study units in exercise psychology, injury prevention and rehabilitation, resistance training and performance analysis.

This course is covered by the QUT Offer Guarantee and Year 12 Early Offer Scheme.

Applicant must be 16; Completion of Year 12 or attained age 18 years

Membership

The course provides students with recognition as an Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) Accredited Exercise Scientist. Further, the course provides a pathway to a career as a Sports Scientist Level 1. Graduates seeking professional recognition as a Sports Scientist Level 1 will need to complete a further minimum of 80 hours of sport employment in order to meet ESSA requirements.
