Diploma to degree at Griffith University
Our university-designed diplomas mirror the courses taught in a bachelor’s degree. They are designed to offer entry into over 60 bachelor programs at Griffith University -often with a full year of credit. This means you could start in the second year of your degree after just one year with us**. Students transition to university with experience and confidence.
Entry requirements (no ATAR needed)
Year 12 graduates are admitted regardless of their ATAR results and ATAR eligibility (i.e., those not on an ATAR pathway can be eligible). Non-school leaver applicants receive entry when they have obtained a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), or equivalent from another state/territory, or a certificate III or higher qualification.

Admission Criteria
For entry to some diplomas, we assume that you already have certain knowledge, through previous studies or experience. This is called “assumed knowledge”. If you lack this assumed knowledge, you can still receive an offer to study with us, and we will provide relevant support courses within our programs.
Programs where math is required have an additional non-waited course, Core Maths Skills, to help you improve your math skills before progressing onto further math and science courses.

- Queensland Certificate of Education or equivalent in your state
- Results of a grade of C or higher in Units 3 and 4 in 3 General or Applied subjects in your final semester of year 12
- Certificate III or higher

Applicants are assessed on the basis of work experience relevant to the program; determined by type and level of employment, details of employer and length of employment.
Applicants who apply directly will be invited to participate in an interview to determine their readiness to study based on their work and life experiences.
If applicants are unable to demonstrate work experience, Griffith College will accept the Special Tertiary Admissions Test administered by ACER along with supporting documents.
If you do not meet the 2 year full-time work experience, we will assess on a case by case basis and may ask for additional information and documents to support your application.

Year 12 graduates are do not need to be on an ATAR pathway to study with Griffith College.
Applicants with recent secondary education receive guaranteed entry when they have obtained:
- A Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) or
- Passes in at least three (3) academic subjects from Year 12, or
- The equivalent from any state or territory,
- Completed a Certificate III or IV.
Applicants with overseas Year 12 study
For international applicants and Australian (domestic) applicants educated overseas, Griffith College will apply the equivalency recommendations of the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR).
Tertiary, foundation programs, International Baccalaureate, A Levels or other international equivalents are included.
Evidence of English proficiency will be required for applicants with overseas qualifications.
Applicants with completed year 12 (more than two years ago)
If you have completed one of the following in the past 10 years please submit your academic certification:
- Queensland Certificate of Education or equivalent in your state
- Results of a grade of C or higher in Units 3 and 4 in 3 General or Applied subjects in your final semester of year 12
- Certificate III or higher
If your qualification is more than 10 years old, please refer to the “applicants with work and life experience” section.
Along with your academic certification, you may be requested to submit a combination of the following documents:
- A detailed resume of your employment and study history
- Evidence of a minimum of 2 years full-time work experience via Statement of service written on company letterhead
- A short personal statement (500 words) explaining the following:
- A brief summary of your career and education to date
- Why you wish to study your selected course
- Some practical examples of tertiary maturity and readiness for study.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
Applicants of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent will be provided opportunities as available through the Gumurrii Centre at Griffith University.
Domestic students with overseas qualifications
Griffith College will apply the equivalency recommendations of the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR). Refer to how to apply for more information.

Accepting an offer
Applicants who apply via QTAC are notified of their offer by email and must respond to their offer online by the due date. Applicants will then receive an official letter of offer from Griffith College to accept and choose payment method, including FEE-HELP.
Direct applicants will receive their offer directly from Griffith College.
All applicants must sign the acceptance form, check for outstanding conditions outlined in the letter of Offer, and return it via reply email.
It is recommended direct applicants apply at least two months prior to the commencement date to be processed in time for orientation and self-registration opening.
Deferment
In most cases, you can defer your course for one year. You may lose your deferred place if you apply for other courses. Deferment is not possible for the Diploma of Health Care and Diploma of Health Care/ Bachelor of Nursing packaged offers. For more information and conditions, contact Griffith College.

You can apply for credit transfer for prior learning, which may reduce the time taken to complete your program. Griffith College may consider:
You need to apply using the Credit transfer application form, available on the Griffith College website. Certified copies of the original transcripts and course outlines must be provided when the form is submitted.
Fees and Charges

Year 12 graduates are not admitted on the basis of their results and do not need to be on an ATAR pathway to study with Griffith College, therefore no adjustment ranks are needed.
