During the higher education diploma year, students build essential academic skills and strengthen their understanding of key scientific concepts. They develop the knowledge needed to address the increasingly complex challenges facing marine environments and to support the sustainable growth of marine industries. With global issues such as climate change, food security, tourism, resource extraction and waste management intensifying, the demand for highly skilled marine science professionals continues to rise, making this an attractive and impactful field of study.
On successful completion, students’ progress into 2nd year of the Bachelor of Marine Science with credit. This degree has a strong practical focus, with students learning through hands-on field-based projects that take advantage of the university’s Gold Coast location.
